Guided tour of the city with a qualified tour guide for Emilia-Romagna Region.
City tour, with guaranteed and planned starting, discovering its most important monuments, full of history and fascination: for individuals, couples, small groups which want to get both and overall and detailed view of the fascinanting history of Ferrara.
The tour lasts about two hours, starting every Sunday from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30. Meeting 15 minutes before the departure at Estense Castle's patio (under the gallery).
For 1st November long weekend, a new date is planned on Tuesday 1st November at 10.30 a.m., and for New Year's a date is planned on Saturday 31st December at 3.00 p.m.
The visit's schedule, costing € 12,00 per person, free for children up to 10 years old (not yet turned 11 years old), is the following:
The guided tour unrolls outside starting from the Estense Castle, city's icon, from which you can admire Corso Ercole I d'Este, the straight-as-a-sword street, joins Estense Castle to the Walls' north gate, crossing the Renaissance Addition wnated by Ercole I d'Este and realized in 1492 by Ferrara architect Biagio Rossetti.
The guide continues in the Medieval square where there are a Gothic-Roman Cathedral consecrated to Saint George and Municipal Palace, first of the Este residences and nowadays Town Hall. Through the ancient Via San Romano and Via Delle Volte we'll reach the evocative Jewish Ghetto with its Synagogues, which it's still nowadays a reference point for Ferrara's Jewish community.
A calm and relaxing walk through an historic city centre very well preserved, recognized UNESCO Humanity Heritage, where the story makes its way through the Este and the Court's stories and the suggestions deduced by life and works, in different century, of Ludovico Ariosto and Giorgio Bassani.
