Fakes - From Alceo Dossena to fakes Modigliani
Exhibition at Palazzo Bonacossi from 7th April to 31st July 2022
Thursday 7th April, at Palazzo Bonacossi, "FAKES - From Alceo Dossena to fake Modigliani" exhibition inaugurates, organized by Ferrara Art Foundation and Art Museum Service of Ferrara Municipality in partnership with Mart, Modern and Contemporary Art Museum in Trento and Rovereto.
The exhibition examines the exciting period with fakes in art through Alceo Dossena's masterpieces (1878-1937), impressive creator of Greek and Etruscan style sculptures and of the greatest italian masters during XIV century and Renaissance. However, Dossena is not the only one: between the end of XIX century and the starting of XX century Giovanni Bastianini was the most well-known forger-sculptor with his Renaissance style works; Icilio Federico Joni, together with his pupil Umberto Giunti, specialized in golden base coat boards in Early Sienese style; Angelo Froglia, who realized his work in order to protest and joke; Pietro Luridiana, Pier Francesco Ferrucci and Michele Ghelarducci, who in 1894 were responsibile of a joke, which included head that were thought to be realized by Amedeo Modigliani.
To supplement the exhibition, at Museo Schifanoia there is one the photographic copy of Saint Lucia Burial by Caravaggio, which is now in Siracusa, realized by Art Fanctum Foundation specifically for Caravaggio. The contemporary's exhibition: in this way the visitor can observe the identity of the artwork meanwhile he can admire modern technology results.
