Narrating Ferrara

Guided tour of the city, every Saturday at 3.00 p.m. and every Sunday at 10.30 a.m.




THE GUIDED TOUR IS IN ITALIAN, FOR OTHER LANGUAGES ON REQUEST

Guided tour of the city with a qualified touristic guide of the Regione Emilia-Romagna.

Tour of the city, fixed and planned departure, to discover its most important monuments, rich in history and charm: the tour is intended for individuals, couples, small groups who want to receive a detailed overview of the faschinable story of Ferrara.

The tour lastes for 2 hours, the departure is every Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 pm. (excluding Saturday 25th Decemeber 2021), and evey Sunday from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 a.m. (additional date Monday 1st November and Wednesday 8th December 2021). The hangout is fifteen minutes earlier than the departure in the Estense's Castle's yard. In case of rain, we will meet under the archs of the same yard.

The price of the visit is 8 euros per person, free for children until 10 years old.
The programme of the visit is the following:

SATURDAY ITINERARY, AT 3 P.M. - "Telling about Ferrara" Standard Edition

The guided tour leaves from the Estense Castle, symbol of the city, from where you can enjoy the sight of Corso Ercole I d'Este, the street which connects the Castle to the North Gate of the wall crossing the Erculean Addition desired by Ercole I d'Este and realized by the ferrarese architect Biagio Rossetti in 1492.

The visit continues in the medieval square where there are the romanic-gothic Cathedral devoted to San Giorgio and the Marchionale Palace, which has been the first residence of the Estense family and is today the city hall. Crossing the ancient streets of San Romano and Delle Volte we will reach the suggestive Jewish ghetto with its synagogue, which is still now the landmark of the Jewish community of Ferrara.

A calm and relaxing walk in the city center, very good preserved, recognised World Human Heritage UNESCO, where the tale will move from the Estense family to the Court's plots and suggestions from the life and the work, through different centuries, of Ludovico Ariosto and Giorgio Bassani.

SUNDAY ITINERARY AT 10.30 A.M. - "Telling about Ferrara" Renaissance Edition

We'll go through the wide roads wanted by the Estense family and designed by the court architect Biagio Rossetti at the end of 1400, stud by churches and palaces full of art and history, that testify the ancient splendour of a city now described as "friendly", such that cover it by walking is the best way to enjoy it.

We'll walk on the ample Corso Ercole I d'Este that preserved through the centuries its residential artieral road characteristic, rich of magnificent dwellings, some of which were once Estensi propoerty, such as Palazzo dei Diamanti characterized by 8500 marble bulges covering. Next to it, you could see Palazzo Prosperi Sacrati and Parco Massari, city's huge green lung, used in 1970 by Vittorio De Sica as "Il giardino dei Finzi Contini" location.
Not to far there is San Cristoforo alla Certosa green complex, wanted by Borso d'Este, first duke of the city, and from there you will reach Piazza Ariosto, wide city "salon", just restored.

It will be a travel through the beauty which arises from the pleasant and varied presence of monuments and glimpses, which make it never boring and expected.
